Honestly, a company can not compete with free software that is continuously being improved upon by community of brilliant geniuses. These are  open source software...they get better and better everyday and I don't have to pay for it. Too many this  can be considered trade secrets of a developer.. yet on the other hand my clients hire me for the service I give them and not the software.
